Training and Research Practice
Training practice
Parklands Surgery is a training practice, and qualified doctors spend a year with the surgery learning the skills of general practice. The surgery also trains medical students and trainee nurses.
There may be a registrar doctor, a medical student or a trainee nurse present during your consultation. If you would be happier for the registrar or student not to be present, please say so.
Occasionally, registrar doctors wish to carry out video recordings of the consultation; they will always ask your permission before doing so. You have the right to ask for the camera to be switched off at any time.
Research practice
Parklands Surgery is a practice which hosts research activities. This means that you may be asked to participate in research studies. You do not have to take part and if you decline your normal medical care will not be affected.
The surgery is accredited as ‘Research Ready’, which is an initiative by the Royal College of General Practitioners that ensures the research taking place in our practice is being undertaken correctly.
